What we do
Planning is concerned with what will be built, and where. In a Local Planning Authority, it is the role of a Planning Officer within Development Management to take into consideration a huge range of factors when making decisions about the development of their local area, this can range from small householder extension to huge housing estates and new shopping areas. As part of their role, Planners work in partnership with a wide range of different individuals, groups, and companies. Planners will make decisions about which project receive planning permission, with their work shaping communities now and for the future.
How does this fit into the development process?
Planners within Development Management play a really important role within the development process, becoming involved within all stages of development, from early development ideas right through to receiving planning permission and seeing the development being developed. As part of this process, Planners consider whether new developments are sited in appropriate locations and whether they are well-designed and are not likely to cause issues such as insufficient car parking and overlooking, ensuring these create sustainable communities for people to work and live within.
