What we do
Our team are there to ensure that people of all ages have access to outdoor play areas and recreational spaces across the Borough. Contributing to the planning process for new developments we work alongside Community groups, Schools and Parish and Town Councils to make sure that our outdoor play spaces meets their needs and we have equipment that is exciting, creative, and that our outdoor recreation spaces provide enough opportunity for people to live healthy, active lives.
How does this fit into the development process
As an important part of the planning process, we work alongside planning officers, developers, and other stakeholders to identify opportunities to provide on-site outdoor play and recreation or funding for off-site outdoor play and recreational areas from developer contributions when an application is submitted in order to provide such spaces for the community living and working in that area.
When the Local Authority produces its Local Plan, Strategies and other important documents which shape the Borough we become involved and undertake extensive research and community consultation to make sure we have enough play are recreation areas across the Borough and make our recommendations for inclusion.
A project our team has completed
We wanted to include an item of play that was unique to Telford and the surrounding area that offered great play value for a wide range of ages in natural materials and reflected the areas heritage as the birthplace of the industrial revolution.
