20 pledges in 20 weeks

The Leader of Telford & Wrekin Council, Councillor Lee Carter, has launched an action plan to deliver 20 pledges in 20 weeks, setting out some of the key things people can expect to see done by his new-look Cabinet to improve life in the borough during his first five months as Leader.

The plan comprises 20 wide-ranging actions, from offering additional school places across the borough to launching a new 24-hour noise complaint service and delivering an exciting programme of cultural events, building on the council’s work to protect, care and invest to create a better borough.

The countdown for the 20 pledges started following Councillor Carter’s appointment as Leader on 18 July 2024 and runs to December 2024.

A few words from the leader of the council, Councillor Lee Carter...

It was my huge privilege to be elected to lead Telford & Wrekin Council on 18 July 2024. With the support of my colleagues, I am determined that we continue to do our very best on behalf of all local residents and businesses.

I joined Telford & Wrekin Council as a ward member in 2015, becoming a cabinet member soon afterwards. Since then, we’ve achieved a huge amount in the borough – our roads are ranked as the best in the Midlands, our children’s services are rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted and our wonderful council-protected green spaces win more awards every year. But we’re ambitious, and so there is always more that we strive to do.

Our 20 pledges campaign will see us deliver 20 wide-ranging actions over my first 20 weeks as Leader as part of our ongoing commitment to protect, care and invest in Telford and Wrekin for you.
