Description
To repair old steps on the bank leading from the pool and boardwalk in Limekiln Woods, Lilleshall. The old wooden shuttered steps had rotted and collapsed rendering this section of the path difficult to use.
Community involvement
The issue of the steps had been raised by local parish councillors on behalf of residents. The path is well used locally for recreation and often is a route included in charity raising fun-runs.
Why the project was implemented
Along with being a popular local route, the path is an important strategic link in the rights of way network, and is part of published routes including The Hutchison Way. The path is on a steep slope and is not constructed meaning that, particularly in wet weather, it could be difficult or hazardous to use.
How the project was funded
The project was funded by the additional capital allocated to Rights of Way for the period 2021/24.
Cost
- £6,300.
When was project completed
- 25 August 2023.
What are the benefits to the community now?
The steps have been completely redesigned and installed providing a safe and accessible facility for this right of way. The path provides access to the woods and pool meaning that the community and wider public are more easily able to enjoy an important local feature.
