Volunteering opportunities

Welcome to our Parish Path Warden volunteer page. If you are looking into ways to make a difference to Telford & Wrekin Rights of Way network we would love to hear from you.

What can volunteering do for me?

Volunteering is a rewarding experience and provides many benefits and these include:

  • learning more about our environment
  • keeping active
  • meeting new people
  • gaining work experience
  • giving back to your local community
  • making a difference
  • promoting positive mental health benefits.

What we are looking for:

You will need to:

  • have a friendly and positive attitude with good communication skills
  • be able to follow instruction
  • have a love for the countryside
  • attend Telford & Wrekin Council (TWC) volunteer training and any other relevant courses
  • agree to wear suitable clothing and footwear
  • be keen to be outdoors in a range of weather conditions and walking over a range of terrains (role dependant)
  • be able to represent Telford & Wrekin Council in a positive and unbiased manner.

What type of tasks could I get involved with?

Volunteering activities are many and varied and can include:

  • environment and conservation activities
  • keeping Rights of Way clean and well maintained.

What skills or experience do I need?

No particular skills are needed. We only ask for enthusiasm and a reasonable level of physical fitness for roles which involve outdoor work. Some role will may be in remote areas and at times, access to toilet and washing facilities could be limited. We do ask that volunteers are aged 18 and over. 

Training

On-site training will be provided, along with an opportunity to attend other related training from time to time.

How can I get involved?

New volunteers are always welcome. Volunteers will be asked to register their interest in completing a short form. If you are interested in joining us please contact us on rightsofway@telford.gov.uk we look forward to hearing from you!

We can also provide bespoke volunteering days for community and corporate groups by prior arrangement. Please contact us on rightsofway@telford.gov.uk for further information.
