As of 1 January 2018 we have launched Trading Standards Accredited (TSA). It follows on from the successful Shropshire, Telford and Wrekin Trader Register which operated for over 10 years. The new TSA scheme accepts applications in all trade areas which will provide greater choice and increased reassurance for customers when looking for a business they can trust.

Are you looking for a trader to carry out work on your home? Struggling to find the right one?
Telford & Wrekin Council's Trading Standards team run the Trading Standards Accredited scheme for locally based traders. The aim of the Scheme is to support local businesses and give consumers access to traders they can rely on.
The Scheme includes businesses such as plumbers, painters and decorators, electricians, builders and gardeners who offer services ranging from simple repairs to large scale building projects. In addition, the new Scheme is open to all other business sectors.
Members sign up to a Code of Practice which sets out minimum standards for customer care and standards of workmanship. In the event of a problem, members have agreed to work with Trading Standards in accordance with a Complaint Resolution Procedure.
Benefits of using a TSA member:
- peace of mind that you are using a trader you can trust
- the business is based locally and can be contacted if there is a problem
- all members agree to abide by a comprehensive Code of Practice
- good customer service
- all members hold public liability insurance
- no high pressure selling
- the ability to feedback compliments and complaints to the scheme
- help and support from Trading Standards if things go wrong via a three stage complaint procedure.
Visit the Trading Standards Accredited website for the easiest way to find a trader and simply input your postcode and the trade area you are looking for e.g. builders, plumbers etc. Alternatively telephone 01952 381818 and a representative will carry out the search for you.
This service is available to all consumers, not just those living within Telford and Wrekin.
