Written confirmation whether planning permission is necessary can be provided by the Council. This is not the same as a ‘Lawful Development Certificate’, which will undertake a formal process, but could be used as an informal alternative.
How to apply
In order to request the permitted development confirmation the following information is required:
- download and complete a permitted development questionnaire
- download the pre-application charges list ensuring you choose the appropriate fee
- any sketches of the proposal.
Complete our online form for a pre-application planning enquiry
What will be provided
A letter confirming whether planning permission is required. If planning permission is required, you can request for a householder assessment and pay the additional fee. The officer will then provide full reasons why it requires consent and a brief assessment of the likelihood of consent being granted.
