---|---|
Start date | January 2012 |
Closing date | February 2012 |
Service delivery area | Customers & People Services |
Reason for consultation | Telford & Wrekin Council faces its most difficult financial situation ever, due to unprecedented cuts in Government grants which mean a budget saving of £40m by 2014. |
Overview |
In providing a fair, equal and affordable service right across the borough we are proposing that opening hours at neighbourhood libraries in Donnington Hadley Oakengates Stirchley are all reduced to 16 hours per week; Great Dawley Parish Council has now offered funding to help maintain opening hours at Dawley library (where open hours would have also been reduced) at it's present 21 hours a week. The Council's main libraries at Madeley and Wellington will increase their opening hours slightly and those at Newport will reduce a little. The main Telford Library will move to a new temporary location later this year as part of the Southwater redevelopment before moving into new premises in the Community Hub building in 2014. What happens next? | We will consider the feedback and be including it in our plans for service redesign for the new service which will be personalised, increase choice and control and promote personal budgets. |
