Junior school admissions

If your child attends an infant school, you will need to apply when your child is in Year 2 for a junior school place to continue into Year 3.

Children attending an infant school that were born between 1 September 2017 and 31 August 2018 are due to start junior school in September 2025. Parents need to apply for a junior school place by 15 January 2025.

If a child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) the application closing date is 31 October 2024.

In Telford and Wrekin, children that attend the linked infant school are given additional priority when applying to the linked junior school. Linked infant and junior schools in Telford and Wrekin are below:

*Church Aston Infant School does not have a linked junior school. Instead, Moorfield Primary School has 17 additional places in Year 3.

Children that attend a primary school do not need to apply for a Year 3 place and will continue to attend primary school until they go to secondary school after Year 6.

To apply for a junior school place you will need to complete and submit an online application form using the link below.

If you want to apply to a primary school instead of a junior school, you should submit an in-year application during the summer holidays in 2025. It is best to still apply for a junior place in case a place is not available at your preferred primary school.

Application outcomes

Parents who apply before the closing date will receive an email with the outcome of their application on Primary National Offer Day – 16 April 2025.

Late applications will be considered after National Offer Day and after all on-time applications have been considered.

Parents of children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) will receive their final plan with a named primary school by 15 February 2025.
