Development and flood risk

Flooding accounts for an estimated 40% of all natural disasters with many varied social, economic and environmental consequences - including damage to homes, businesses, crops, and infrastructure, together with health risks.

The Council is therefore required to ensure that flood risk is taken into account at all stages of the planning process to avoid inappropriate development in areas at risk of flooding, and to direct development away from areas at risk of flooding.

Level 2 of the Assessment provides a more detailed review of flood risk for 6 watercourses in the Borough, with refined Flood Zone information for these watercourses and an emphasis on mapped visual representations of data collected.
