England's roads are among the safest in the world however road safety performance varies between Local Highways Authorities as many factors affect road safety performance.
In recent years Telford and Wrekin have been ranked amongst the best performing authorities for reducing the number of people killed or seriously injured on roads. That said and despite police records showing a reduction in the number of people killed or seriously injured there is still a need to educate road users.
The Transport, Strategy and Road Safety team analyse data both nationally and locally to identify trends and target groups.
As statistics have identified children and young people as a vulnerable age category when it comes to road related casualties a lot of our work is targeted at school aged children.
The Transport, Strategy and Road Safety team have developed a wide range of education and training programmes aiming to increase road safety awareness amongst children and young people whilst educating them of the benefits of travelling sustainably.
Our Road Safety Officers have a wealth of experience and deliver informative and interactive programmes which have proved to be both popular and effective in alerting young road users to the dangers they can face on a daily basis. View our full list of programmes:
